Village of Rockton Public Works Committee met Sept. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Fridly called the regular meeting of the Public Works Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Adams, Dan Barber, Kevin Bunge, Scott Fridly, Cory Magnus, Jodi May and Don Self

Also present: Dave Winters

Motion by Mr. Magnus, second by Ms. May, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of August 31, 2020. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

VILLAGE ENGINEER – KEVIN BUNGE

Village Engineer Kevin Bunge gave his report. A copy of his report is on file with the Village Clerk’s office. Mr. Bunge inquired about the work in Stone Ridge subdivision that Mr. Youssi is completing and what he needs to do. Mr. Barber said that once the work is complete that Mr. Bunge will go and inspect the streets. Mr. Barber added that the right of ways were changed by Mr. Youssi and that they are up next to the garages of several residents. Mr. Barber said that there was talk of deeding this back to the residents, but that this will have to be postponed for approximately one year because the water shut off boxes need to be worked on. Mr. Barber stated that the Village will more than likely have to deed the right of ways back to the homeowners on the Village’s dime. Mr. Barber said that he will advise Mr. Bunge when the water work is complete.

Mr. Barber added that he has received a few complaints from residents that there is a construction sign in the way on Meadowcrest Drive. Mr. Bunge stated that he will check on this and follow up.

MAYOR – DALE ADAMS

Mayor Adams stated that he has received three letters of support so far for the ITEP Old River Road bike path. Mayor Adams said that he sent out letters to other municipalities, area school districts and legislators requesting their support for the bike path project.

WATER, SEWER, & GARBAGE – SCOTT FRIDLY

Mr. Fridly stated that Resolution 2020-123: A Resolution of the Village of Rockton, Illinois Approving Bylaws of the Rock River Watershed Group and Appointing the Village’s Representative to the Rock River Watershed Group is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on September 15, 2020. Mr. Barber advised the Committee that Atty. Szeto has already reviewed the bylaws presented in the resolution. The Committee was okay with this.

STREETS AND WALKS – CORY MAGNUS

Mr. Magnus stated that the purchase requisition for Michael Todd for street name signs in the amount of $2,539.03 is up for approval as well at the Village Board meeting. The Committee was okay with this.

Mr. Magnus added that there are several MFT resolutions (Resolutions 2020-124, 2020-125, 2020-126, and 2020-127) up for approval as well. Mr. Magnus stated that this is to cleaning everything up from the last few years. The Committee was okay with this.

BUILDINGS AND PARKS – JODI MAY

None.

PUBLIC WORKS – DAN BARBER

Mr. Barber provided a copy of the Public Works monthly report to the Committee.

Mr. Barber added that he has two valves that are leaking on Hawick Street and that he will have more information at the next meeting.

PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR – DON SELF

Mr. Self provided a copy of the Parks/Rec monthly report to the Committee.

Mr. Self stated that the movie in the park went well and that they are considering having another outdoor movie around Halloween. Mr. Winters said that they discussed showing the movie on Friday, October 30th at the Administration Committee meeting.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS ALLOWED BY LAW

None.

Motion by Ms. May, second by Mr. Magnus to adjourn at 6:48 pm.
