The DeKalb Rotary Club is a century old, a fact that the Illinois House of Representatives has honored in a resolution.
The DeKalb Rotary Club follows Rotary International's objectives, including the development of "acquaintance as an opportunity for service, high ethical standards in business and professions," the resolution reads.
State Rep. Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore), who introduced the resolution, presented a copy to DeKalb Rotary Club members Brian Corr and Amy Doll.
Shortly after its founding, the club began to work on community service projects, including a swimming pool and campground. The resolution states that the club is working to restore the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Clock in downtown DeKalb.
"The DeKalb Soldiers and Sailors Memorial clock is celebrating its centennial year in 2021, just as DeKalb Rotary Club is celebrating ITS centennial year," the club said on its website. "DeKalb Rotary has initiated a project to return the clock to working order. The clock has not been functional for many years."
