Singing the same tune that his fellow Illinois Republicans are singing about Gov. J.B. Pritzker, state Sen. Dave Syverson (R-35th) criticized the governor for handling the pandemic without the help of state officials.
Syverson posted a message on his Facebook account counting the weeks that the pandemic struck the state and the nation. He also counted the number of orders that Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued for the state, which included closing all schools, restaurants, malls and public venues where people could gather in large numbers.
But when Syverson posted the number of people who cooperated with Pritzker on handling the coronavirus, Syverson only wrote “0” because, according to him, no one from the General Assembly was asked to participate in Pritzker’s plan to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.
Syverson said that even though lawmakers have been hounding the governor to let them be part of the process, he claims that Pritzker still chose to do it on his own. Syverson told Pritzker that not allowing them to help is “an injustice to the people of Illinois.”
