STATELINE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Cornerstone Credit Union Awards Four Scholarships to Local Students

Stateline Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 6. 

Cornerstone Credit Union is proud to announce the outstanding recipients of their 2021 Founders’ Scholarships: Reese Coon, Freeport High School; Amy Ziegler, Sterling High School; Matthew Ifert, Eastland High School; and Kirsten Frautschy, Orangeville High School. Each winner received an $1,250 award.

“Education is the key to a successful future, which is why Cornerstone Credit Union is proud to have offered these scholarship awards annually to local high school seniors since

1998,” stated Gail Clore, Cornerstone Credit Union President/CEO. “Especially during this challenging time, it is our privilege to recognize these outstanding local students who were chosen for their commitment to furthering their education and community involvement. On behalf of Cornerstone’s Board of Directors and staff, I congratulate this year’s recipients and wish them future success,” added Clore.

All of the winners have an impressive list of academic achievements and activities, and have been accepted to an accredited college or university. Reese plans on attending Elmhurst University with the goal to obtain a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Amy will be choosing a path of education with either Augustana College, or the University of Illinois with the intent on getting a degree in Actuarial Sciences. Matthew will be attending Highland Community College to obtain certification in their Welding & Fabrication program. Kirsten plans to attend Highland Community College to obtain a degree in Psychology, transferring to complete her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree and become an Occupational Therapist.
