Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met April 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairwoman May called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Scott Danielson, Scott Fridly, Corine Hughes and Jodi May Staff present: Chief Dickson, Deputy Chief Hollinger, Arianne Honkamp (6:43 pm) and Atty. Szeto (6:38 pm)

Motion by Mr. Fridly, second by Mr. Danielson, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of April 5, 2022. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS

None.

RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT

Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $350,717.28.

MAYOR PETERSON

None.

VILLAGE COLLECTOR, CORINE HUGHES

Ms. Hughes stated that there is enough money to cover the bills and payroll.

Ms. Hughes advised the Committee that that she is currently working on a draft of the appropriations ordinance for the special Village Board meeting that is being held on April 28th to discuss the 2022-2023 fiscal year budget. Ms. Hughes stated that she is making some changes and moving things in other locations within the budget. Mr. Danielson inquired about the format that the department heads use and Ms. Hughes stated that the department heads submit their numbers to her and that she puts those numbers in the draft budget for review.

Mayor Peterson inquired if the Committee had looked over the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds guidelines and asked how they wanted to use the money. Mayor Peterson went over different projects and Covid-related expenses that the funds could be used for. The Committee had a lengthy discussion about the different possible uses and agreed that the total amount of $1M should be used for water/sewer projects in the Village.
