Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met Jan. 3.

Chairwoman May called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Scott Danielson, Jodi May and Justin York
Staff present: Dan Baumgartner, Tricia Diduch and Arianne Honkamp
Also present: Dave Winters
Absent: Corine Hughes
Motion by Mr. York, second by Mr. Danielson, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of December 20, 2022. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS
None.
RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT
Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $204,859.53.
MAYOR PETERSON
None.
VILLAGE TREASURER, CORINE HUGHES
None.
JODI MAY, CHAIRWOMAN
Ms. May stated that she received an email form Ms. Hughes and that there is enough money to cover the bills.
Ms. May added that Ordinance 2022-33: An Ordinance Abating the Ad Valorem Tax Previously Levied for the Year 2022 to Pay Debt Service on the $1,585,000 General Obligation Alternate Bonds (Waterworks System Alternate Revenue Source), Series2012A, of the Village of Rockton, Winnebago County, Illinois is up for approval at the Village Board meeting later in the evening and that this will need to be amended to Ordinance 2023-1. The Committee was okay with this.
Ms. May stated that she would like to start the discussion of increasing water and sewer rates at the next Budget & Finance meeting and that the discussion could continue at the Village Board meeting if necessary. Mayor Peterson said that he would like all of the Village Trustees present at this meeting as well. The Village Clerk advised that she will send out any information regarding the water and sewer rates as soon as possible so that the Village Board has time to review the information and ask any questions prior to the next meeting. Mayor Peterson stated that everyone needs to review the material and come prepared to discuss the rate increase.

SCOTT DANIELSON, TRUSTEE
Mr. Danielson had a question in regards to the discussion from two weeks ago in regards to the Chemtool property and paying back the loans. Mayor Peterson stated that the Village is obligated to pay Loan #1, but not obligated to pay Loan #2 and Loan #3.
