Laurie Miller’s goal is to be a master of the insurance trade and her mission is to share her knowledge with her clients. Miller’s enthusiasm as a lifelong learner is echoed by her clients, with one saying “she is a wealth of knowledge in the area of benefits and human resources” and another calling her a “true partner.”

One of Miller’s clients faced a significant challenge: A new HR manager stepped into an employee relations nightmare when her predecessor made unpopular changes to the health benefits plan upon departure.

Miller analyzed the contracts and claims, finding several errors that caused the firm to be overexposed to risk. She provided options, benchmark comparisons and creative ways to improve benefits. Miller drove the process from start to finish and in the end delivered a fully-funded, less risky option. Employees saved money while the firm added STD and LTD options, two benefits employees had requested.

Another client faced a 16% rate increase following multiple large claims. Miller negotiated a much smaller 5% increase for the client without changing carriers or benefits — a result that satisfied employees and leadership.

For a third client, Miller worked closely with a one-member HR department. The director described relying on Miller’s expertise and guidance throughout the year, but especially during the twice-annual HR seminars Miller hosts: “Laurie holds complimentary seminars twice a year providing us with valuable information.”
