There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes living in Boone County released on parole during the third quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rockford Sun.

The data shows a man and a woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 41. The younger parolee was a 27-year-old man sentenced in 2016, and the oldest was a 55-year-old woman sentenced in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Luis Gonzalez. He was convicted in 2016 when he was 20 years old. He is now 27.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
