Q4 2022 Recap: 2 parolees from Winnebago County convicted of sex crimes set for release

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes living in Winnebago County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rockford Sun.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 39. The younger parolee was a 33-year-old man sentenced in 2022, and the oldest was a 45-year-old man sentenced in 2022.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Michael E. Gamboa. He was convicted in 2022 when he was 31 years old. He is now 33.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
