II. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES

III. TRAFFIC REQUESTS

A. New Business

1. Request in the 4th Ward, by Sarah Schmid, 3087 Cheroakwood Lane, to establish stop control at the intersection of Cheroakwood Lane and Crofton Road. (Commission discussed requester’s concerns about traffic from Cheroakwood Lane not stopping. Commission discussed the low traffic volumes and lack of accident history. Commission recommend City Forestry look at the area to remove vegetation that might be blocking sight lines. Commission recommended taking “No Action”. Motion by D. Bissell, seconded by P. Yarbrough, Voted 10-0).

2. Request in the 5th Ward, by St. Anthony’s Church, to establish Handicap Parking on the north side of Kent Street from Ferguson Street to 165 feet west of Ferguson Street. (Mr. Stockman discussed the church is making this request due to an aging congregation and that the elevator for the church is on the north side of the building. In addition, the church owns the property adjacent to where the handicap spaces are being requested. Commission discussed that handicap parking would not be time restricted, but would not really impact surrounding neighborhood. Commission recommended establishing Handicap Parking on the north side of Kent Street from Ferguson Street to 165 feet west of Ferguson Street. Motion by P. Yarbrough, seconded by M. Rotolo, Voted 9-1).

3. Request in the 11th Ward, by Alderman Isidro Barrios and Laura Blackwell, Principal of Beyer Early Childhood Center, to establish “No Parking Any Time” on one side of 16th Avenue from Beyer Early Childhood Center to Kishwaukee Street. (Mr. Du discussed he did not want the parking restriction to be established but preferred it was on the south side of 16th Avenue if it was established. Commission discussed the surveys received preferred to leave the parking restriction as is. M. Slife and M. Rotolo discussed that RPS 205 and the Fire Department, respectively, did not have access issues on the street that required removal of parking. Traffic Commission discussed the existing parking problems may resolve themselves after the construction on 15th Avenue ends. Commission recommended laying the item over for 6 months to be look at again after construction ends and school resumes in the fall. Motion by P. Yarbrough, seconded by M. Rotolo, Voted 10-0).
