Village of Pecatonica Public Safety Committee met Oct. 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

1. Call to Order- The meeting was called to order by Chairman Howard at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

2. The Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag was recited.

3. Roll call – Chairman Howard, Village and Trustees Kathy Doty and Kim Gipe were present. Also in attendance were Village President Tom Heister, and Police Chief Matt Summers.

4. Additions/Corrections to the Agenda

5. Approve the Agenda -

A motion was made by Trustee Gipe and seconded by Trustee Doty to approve the agenda. Discussion, A roll call vote was taken. All present voted yes. Motion approved 3-0-0.

6. Public Comment

None.

7. Approve the August 2, 2023 Minutes

A motion was made by Trustee Doty and seconded by Trustee Howard to approve the August 2, 2023; minutes as corrected. Discussion. A roll call vote was taken. All present voted yes. Motion approved 3-0-0.

8. Discuss Time Limitation Parking

Chief Summers discussed that we currently have no ordinance that sets a limit of time allowed to park on the streets without moving a vehicle. He has had a few calls complaining about cars that are parked on the streets and never moved. Discussion. Village President Heister will check into adding to current parking ordinance and bring this to the October 17, 2023, Regular Board Meeting.

9. Discuss Speeding Enforcement

The committee discussed ways to try and reduce the speeding around town. The police force is almost back to full staff, and this will help. The committee also discussed ideas of increasing police presence on Jackson and East 3rd Street to help reduce speeding as people are entering the village. This discussion to be continued at upcoming committee meetings.

11. Adjournment –

A motion was made by Trustee Doty and seconded by Trustee Gipe to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 6:24 pm.
