State Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Cherry Valley) is once again calling on the community to bring joy and happiness to residents of long-term care facilities through the Valentines for Seniors Card Drive. This initiative, now in its fourth year, aims to provide Valentine's Day wishes to those living in nursing homes, rehab centers, and long-term care facilities.

Sen. Syverson expressed the impact that receiving these cards has on the residents, particularly those who have become more isolated due to ongoing public health concerns. He stated, "Receiving your cards has brought much joy and many smiles to these residents, especially those who have become more isolated because of ongoing public health concerns."

The senator is urging community members, churches, schools, and other groups to participate in this heartwarming initiative. Valentine's Day cards can be dropped off or mailed to Sen. Syverson's offices in Cherry Valley and Hampshire. Once collected, the senator and his district staff will personally deliver the cards to long-term care facilities in communities across the region.

Sen. Syverson is collaborating with State Representative Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) and Winnebago County Chairman Joe Chiarelli to collect and distribute valentines to residents in different parts of the 35th Senate District. Flyers containing drop-off locations will be available for individuals to find the most convenient option in their region.

Participants have until February 7th to mail or drop off their cards at either 527 Colman Center Dr., Cherry Valley, IL 61108, or 115 W. Oak Knoll Dr., Route 72, Hampshire, IL 60140.

The impact of the Valentines for Seniors Card Drive has resonated beyond the local community. In 2021, the initiative caught the attention of celebrity businesswoman Martha Stewart, who shared it on social media. This led to an outpouring of support from around the country, with hundreds of valentines being donated to the Card Drive. The program also gained recognition on Good Housekeeping magazine's website, further amplifying its reach and impact.

For more information about the Valentines for Seniors Card Drive or to express interest in participating, individuals are encouraged to contact Cheryl Larson at cheryll@senatordavesyverson.com.

Let us come together and spread love and joy this Valentine's Day by sending heartfelt cards to the residents of long-term care facilities.
