1 less lawyer with active license to practice in cities in Boone County in January compared to previous month

Cities located within Boone County had a decline in the number of lawyers with active licenses compared to the previous month, according to the ARDC of the Supreme Court of Illinois.

In total, there were 22 active legal licenses recorded in Boone County in January, compared to 23 in the previous month.

The highest number of licenses were granted in Belvidere (21).

Illinois ranks among the top five states in terms of lawyer-to-person ratio, with approximately five lawyers per thousand residents. This ratio is slightly higher than the national average ratio of four lawyers per thousand residents.

There are 10 cities in Illinois where lawyers make more than the statewide average salary. Chicago tops the list, with lawyers earning nearly $21,000 more than lawyers in other areas of the state.

Data refers to all lawyers who were actively practicing during this period.
