Village of Rockton Board of Trustees met Feb. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Present: Mayor Peterson, Mr. Baumgartner, Mr. Danielson, Ms. May, Mr. Winters and Atty. Kurlinkus

Staff present: Dan Barber, Sally Bennett, Tricia Diduch and Chief Hollinger

Absent: Mrs. Honkamp & Mr. York

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. Baumgartner, to waive the reading of the February 6, 2024 Village Board meeting minutes. All ayes. Motion approved 4-0.

AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA

None.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

MAYOR PETERSON

Motion by Ms. May to approve the appointment of Ted Thayer to the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), second by Mr. Winters. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 4-0.

VILLAGE ATTORNEY

None.

ZONING

None.

PUBLIC SAFETY AND LEGAL & BUDGET – MR. WINTERS

Mr. Winters shared the Rockton Police Department activity summary from February 1st – 15th with the Village Board.

Mr. Winters stated that Chief Wilson (Rockton Fire Protection District) dropped off an activity report and the 2023 annual report for the Village Board to review since he was unable to attend the meeting this evening.

Motion by Mr. Winters to ratify the consensus for the Village’s 2024 health benefits renewal, second by Ms. May. Roll Call. All ayes. Motion approved 4-0.

ADMINISTRATION – MR. YORK

None.

WATER, SEWER, AND GARBAGE – MS. MAY

Motion by Ms. May to approve the Public Works job descriptions, second by Mr. Baumgartner. Roll call. All ayes.

Motion approved 4-0.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – MR. DANIELSON

None.

BUILDINGS AND PARKS – MRS. HONKAMP

Motion by Mr. Baumgartner to approve the special events application for the “May Day Fairy Festival” to be held on Saturday, May 4th from 10 am – 4 pm in Settlers Park and waive the application fees, second by Ms. May. Mr. Baumgartner explained that they are going to charge the vendors at the event in order to cover the cost of port o potty rentals. Ms. Diduch added that this is going to bring people into the downtown area and it should be a fun event. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 4-0.

STREETS AND WALKS – MR. BAUMGARTNER

None.

PAYMENT OF BILLS

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. Baumgartner, to pay bills in the amount of $326,428.86. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 4-0.

Hearing no further business, motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. Danielson, to adjourn at 7:10 pm. All ayes.
