Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met May 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Sally Bennett, Connie Kieffer, Jodi May and Dave Winters Staff present: Dan Barber, Dan Baumgartner (6:46 pm), Tricia Diduch, Chief Hollinger and Arianne Honkamp (6:33 pm)

Absent: Scott Danielson

Motion by Ms. May, second by Mr. Winters, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of April 16, 2024. All ayes. Motion approved 2-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS

None.

RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT

Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $251,227.27.

MAYOR PETERSON

Mayor Peterson advised the Committee that there will be a special Village Board meeting on Tuesday, May 14th at 7:00 pm to discuss the 2024-2025 budget.

VILLAGE TREASURER, SALLY BENNETT

Mrs. Bennett provided the Committee with the first draft of the 2024-2025 budget and stated that any of the yellow highlighted areas in the draft haven’t been touched yet. Mayor Peterson asked if Mrs. Bennett eliminated the 1% grocery tax and she verified that she did. Mrs. Bennett stated that the bottom line is $75,000 and that she reduced the Village Treasurer number from $100,000 to $10,000. Mrs. Bennett said that the Village needs to let Jaye Quimby retire and that she will complete a request for proposal (RFP) for someone to be her control. Mrs. Bennett advised the Committee that she will have a better version for the special Village Board meeting on Tuesday.

VILLAGE COLLECTOR

Ms. Kieffer commented that if the Committee would like the warrants reported any other way to let her know. The Committee stated that they were good with the way she was doing them.

None.

Motion by Ms. May, second by Mr. Winters, to adjourn at 6:48 pm.
