Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met May 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Sally Bennett, Scott Danielson, Connie Kieffer, Jodi May and Dave Winters

Staff present: Dan Baumgartner (6:53 pm), Tricia Diduch and Chief Hollinger

Motion by Ms. May, second by Mr. Danielson, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of May 7, 2024. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Lindsey Fish, Principal with Sikich, presented information in regards to the Village’s audit. Ms. Fish stated that Sikich issued three reports (annual financial report, TIF reports and Board communication) for the audit. Ms. Fish advised the Committee that a clean/unmodified audit opinion was issued as well. Ms. Fish briefly went through the reports and answered any questions that the Committee had. Ms. May asked Ms. Fish her thoughts on the Village switching to a calendar year. Ms. Fish stated that it’s not too big of a change on Sikich’s end, but that the Village would have to have two audits completed the year that the change is made.

SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS

None.

RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT

Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $235,451.03.

MAYOR PETERSON

Mayor Peterson advised the Committee that there will be a special Village Board meeting on Monday, June 3rd at 7:00 pm to discuss the 2024-2025 budget.

VILLAGE TREASURER, SALLY BENNETT

Mrs. Bennett stated that she finished the March reconciliation and that she is reviewing the new budget. Mrs. Bennett advised the Committee that she met with Jaye Quimby today and that there is close to $1M in reserves. Mrs. Bennett said that she would like to be a little more conservative and noted $950,000 in

the new budget. Mayor Peterson commented that he would like to get these numbers in front of everybody to look at and review.
