A FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center has been established to assist residents in their recovery following the severe weather that occurred from July 13 to July 16, 2024. The center offers services from specialists representing FEMA, the state of Illinois, and the U.S. Small Business Administration. These specialists are available to help survivors apply for federal disaster assistance, upload necessary documents, answer questions in person, provide access to additional resources, and educate individuals on making their properties more resistant to future disasters.
The Disaster Recovery Center is located at Forest City Church - Rockford, 1280 S. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. It operates with new hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is closed on Sundays.
For those unable or unwilling to visit the center in person, there are alternative ways to apply for FEMA assistance. Applications can be submitted online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA mobile app, or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. Applicants using relay services such as video relay service or captioned telephone service should provide their specific relay service number when applying.
