Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met Dec. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Sally Bennett, Scott Danielson, Connie Kieffer, Jodi May and Dave Winters

Staff present: Dan Barber, Tricia Diduch and Chief Hollinger

Motion by Ms. May, second by Mr. Danielson, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of December 3, 2024. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS

None.

RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT

Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $737,591.20.

MAYOR PETERSON

Mayor Peterson stated that he emailed Illinois State Representative John Cabello in reference the poor condition of the railroad crossings in the Village. Mayor Peterson said that if he doesn’t hear back from him that he will send him another email in January.

VILLAGE TREASURER, SALLY BENNETT

Mrs. Bennett handed out copies of the financial statements to the Committee and advised that some line items are over 100%, but that we want to be able to see overages so that we can plan for it in the next budget. Mrs. Bennett added that she spoke to other treasurers at a recent conference that she attended and that it’s not necessary to reappropriate funds if we go over line items in the budget.

DAVE WINTERS, CHAIRMAN

Mr. Winters stated that Ordinance 2024-24: An Ordinance for the Levy and Assessment of Taxes for the Fiscal Year Beginning June 1, 2025 and Ending May 31, 2026 is up for approval at the Village Board meeting later in the evening. The Committee was okay with this.
