Every ten years, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a nationwide count to document each resident in the country. The 2020 Census showed population changes among the wards in Rockford City, necessitating adjustments to ward boundaries as required by state law before the upcoming City election. A bipartisan Redistricting Committee developed a new ward map, which received approval from the City Council in 2022. This updated map will be implemented during this year's aldermanic election, with a primary scheduled for February and a consolidated election in April.

For more information on current maps and those that will be effective with the next election, visit https://www.rockfordil.gov/531/Ward-Redistricting.
