Village of Rockton Board of Trustees met March 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Present: Mayor Peterson, Mr. Baumgartner, Mr. Danielson, Mrs. Honkamp, Ms. May,

Mr. Winters and Atty. Szeto

Staff present: Dan Barber, Sally Bennett, Tricia Diduch, Chief Hollinger and Connie Kieffer Also present: Dave Bennington

Absent: Mr. York

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to waive the reading of the February 18, 2025 Village Board meeting minutes. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA

Ms. May stated that she would like to add a consensus under herself for Northern Illinois Service Co. to repair a water main break at Hawick Street and Highway 75 at a cost not to exceed $45,000. Motion by Mr. Winters to approve the amendments to the agenda, second by Mr. Danielson. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

ZONING

PUBLIC SAFETY AND LEGAL & BUDGET – MR. WINTERS

Mr. Winters shared the Rockton Police Department activity summary from February 16th – 28th with the Village Board.

ADMINISTRATION – MR. YORK

None.

WATER, SEWER, AND GARBAGE – MS. MAY

Motion by Ms. May to approve Ordinance 2025-3: An Ordinance Amending Chapter 53 “Water Service”, Section 53.21 “Service Pipe Connections and Curb Stop” of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Rockton, Illinois, second by Mrs. Honkamp. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

Ms. May stated that she would like a consensus for Northern Illinois Service Co. to repair a water main break at Hawick Street and Highway 75 at a cost not to exceed $45,000. The Village Board was okay with this.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – MR. DANIELSON

None.

BUILDINGS AND PARKS – MRS. HONKAMP

Motion by Mrs. Honkamp to waive the formal bid process for the lawn maintenance program, second by Mr. Baumgartner. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

Motion by Mrs. Honkamp to approve the lawn maintenance program renewal with Nason’s Landscaping in the amount of $104,100.31 for three years with an annual increase of 3% for year 2 and year 3, second by Ms. May. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

STREETS AND WALKS – MR. BAUMGARTNER

Motion by Mr. Baumgartner to approve Ordinance 2025-4: An Ordinance Amending Schedule I. Stop Streets of Chapter 74 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Rockton, Illinois Regarding the Placement of Stop Signs, second by Ms. May. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

Motion by Mr. Baumgartner to approve the special events application for “Kishwaukee Valley Abate Bike Show” to be held on Saturday, July 12th from 10 am – 2 pm at the Rockton American Legion (221 W. Main Street), second by Ms. May. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

ACTION ON ITEMS ARISING OUT OF EXECUTIVE SESSION

None.

NEW BUSINESS

Chief Hollinger stated that the “Battle of the Badges Blood Drive” will be held on Monday March 10th at the Rockton Fire Department from noon until 6 pm if anyone wishes to donate blood.

PAYMENT OF BILLS

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to pay bills in the amount of $235,303.02. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

Hearing no further business, motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to adjourn at 7:08 pm. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.
