The City of Rockford will observe Arbor Day by planting ten new trees at West View Elementary School. This initiative is a part of the city’s urban forestry efforts supported by grant funding.

Community members are invited to take part in a morning of tree planting. The city seeks 20 volunteers to assist in this activity. Participants are encouraged to come prepared to work, dressed in sturdy shoes and clothes suitable for getting dirty. Following the tree planting, a tree giveaway event will be held.

The event will take place at West View Elementary School, located at 1720 Halsted Road, on Saturday, April 26. Tree planting is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., and the tree giveaway will start at noon.

Individuals interested in volunteering are encouraged to sign up by emailing Taylor.Hennelly@rockfordil.gov.
