Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met June 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Sally Bennett, Dan Baumgartner, Connie Kieffer, Dave Winters and Justin York

Staff present: Dan Barber, Dave Bennington (6:34 pm), Chief Hollinger and Atty Szeto (6:39 pm)

Motion by Mr. York, second by Mr. Baumgartner, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of May 20, 2025. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS

None.

RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT

Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $173,998.94.

MAYOR PETERSON

None.

VILLAGE TREASURER, SALLY BENNETT

Mrs. Bennett advised the Committee that First National Bank is reviewing the Public Works building balloon loan. Mrs. Bennett said that there are two options; Option A at 5.70% for 3 years with a monthly payment of $17,205.18 or Option B at 5.80% for 5 years with a monthly payment of $17,299.83. Mr. Winters advised Mrs. Bennett to go with Option A and that we can approve this at the next Village Board meeting.

Mrs. Bennett stated that she asked for a quote from Civic for an accounts receivable module and that she would like permission to put this in the budget. Mrs. Bennett said that there’s a webinar that she would like to watch in regards to this before she makes a decision to purchase the module. Mr. York stated that if the Village purchases this, then everyone should use it. Mr. York also inquired if the cost of the module also includes upgrades. Mrs. Bennett said that she will find out. The Committee was okay with this.

Mrs. Bennett went over the draft budget with the Committee. Mrs. Bennett stated that there were minor tweaks and she went over those numbers with the Committee as well.

VILLAGE COLLECTOR, CONNIE KIEFFER

Ms. Kieffer advised the Committee that she anticipates $48,000 by the end of the month for liquor license fees and $700 for tobacco license fees.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS ALLOWED BY LAW

None.

ADJOURN

Motion by Mr. York, second by Mr. Baumgartner, to adjourn at 7:02 pm.
