Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met June 17.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Sally Bennett, Dan Baumgartner, Dave Winters and Justin York Staff present: Dan Barber, Tricia Diduch and Chief Hollinger
Absent: Connie Kieffer
Motion by Mr. York, second by Mr. Baumgartner, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of June 3, 2025. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS
None.
RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT
Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $303,110.76.
MAYOR PETERSON
Mayor Peterson inquired if everyone knew about the payment the Village received for the PFAS settlement. Mr. Barber stated that the Village received a $92,000 check and that this is 20% of the almost $400,000 that the Village will be receiving from the settlement.
VILLAGE TREASURER, SALLY BENNETT
Mrs. Bennett advised the Committee that everything looks good with the monthly financial report.
Mrs. Bennett stated that she found an error in the previous budget with the employee dental and health insurance. Mrs. Bennett said that she made a journal entry to correct this because it looked like it was revenue, but it’s actually going into a liability fund. Mrs. Bennett added that she also spoke to Civic, the Village’s software platform, about this as well.
DAVE WINTERS, CHAIRMAN
Mr. Winters stated that Ordinance 2025-17: An Ordinance Providing the Appropriation of Funds for the Operation of the Village of Rockton for the Fiscal Year Beginning June 1, 2025 and Ending May 31, 2026 is up for approval at the Village Board meeting later in the evening. The Committee was okay with this.
