The city of Rockford has announced the opening of applications for the position of Fire Chief. The role involves overseeing the Rockford Fire Department and managing over 330 personnel. Responsibilities include strategy development, hiring, promotions, and ensuring efficient fire department operations to provide essential services such as firefighting and emergency medical response.
Candidates must have at least five years in a leadership role within a fire service agency, a bachelor's degree preferably in Fire Science or related fields, and experience in an urban fire service agency. They should also possess or be able to obtain certification as Fire Officer II.
