II. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES

III. TRAFFIC REQUESTS

A. New Business

1. Request in the 3rd Ward, by Jorge Molina, to establish traffic control at the intersection of Roncevalles Avenue and Buckingham Drive. (J. Carter discussed that the item had been before the Commission 6 months earlier. Commission discussed low traffic volumes and low accident history.

Commission recommended taking “No Action.” Motion by S. Capovilla, seconded by S. Mosny, Voted 11-0).

2. Request in the 14th Ward, by Steven Kudzma of PCI, to establish a 30mph speed limit on Linden Road from S Alpine Road east to the city limits, thus repealing the 45mph speed limit on Linden Road from S Alpine Road east to the city limits. (J. Carter explained the request from PCI and their concerns with their new facility along Linden Road and the numerous trucks that were now using the road. J. Carter also discussed that there is a 30mph zone just to the east of the current 45mph zone and this change would leave a small segment of township road with 45mph but City would work with them if this item was approved. The Commission recommended establishing a 30mph speed limit on Linden Road from S Alpine Road east to the city limits, thus repealing the 45mph speed limit on Linden Road from S Alpine Road east to the city limits. Motion by T. Okite, seconded by J. Carter, Voted 11-0).

3. Request in the 6th Ward, by the Public Works Department, to establish a No Parking Anytime restriction on the east side of Lapey Street from Roosevelt Road to 200 feet north of Roosevelt Road. (Mr. Linder and Mr. Chamberlain both spoke about trucks parking in the subject area and causing damage to the area by creating ruts. Ald. Prunty discussed the concerns of the neighborhood and working with Public Works to try to solve the issue. The Commission recommended establishing a No Parking Anytime restriction on the east side of Lapey Street from Roosevelt Road to 200 feet north of Roosevelt Road. Motion by J. Carter, seconded by S. Mosny, Voted 11-0).

4. The following item was discussed but no vote was taken. Request in the 12th Ward, by Johansson Russ, to establish all-way stop control at the intersection of Fulton Avenue and Court Street, thus repealing the existing traffic control of Court Street stopping for Fulton Avenue. (J. Carter explained the item information only and that interest by Commission to establish all way stop would result in roughly 10 items being discussed at the November meeting including removing the Thru-Street designation for Fulton Avenue. Ald. Meeks discussed her and businesses’ concerns about accidents and also impact of any traffic control on parking. Commission discussed various possibilities for parking that might help with accidents. J. Carter stated it appeared that Commission would not be in favor of an all way stop and he would look to see what parking restrictions could be made at a staff level to improve the situation and would bring any restriction requiring Commission support back in the near future, if needed.)
