Chairman Bonne called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. The invocation was offered by Chaplain Calvin Culpepper.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Mayor Thomas McNamara presented a Proclamation in recognition of Domestic Violence declaring the month of October “Domestic Violence Awareness Month.”
Mayor Thomas McNamara presented at Proclamation in honor of Pharmacists declaring the month of October “American Pharmacists Month.”
Mayor Thomas McNamara presented a Proclamation in honor of Fire Fighters declaring the week of October 5th-11th as “Fire Prevention Week.” Mayor McNamara noted that although the celebration date has passed, it is important to continue to honor the celebration of Fire Prevention Week because the work that fire fighters do is vital to our community.
The Mayor announced that the Police and Fire Commission has officially appointed a new Fire Chief. He went on to thank the Police and Fire Commission for their outstanding service. The Mayor also thanked interim Fire Chief Brian Carlson, the residents, City Staff, and Fire Department Personnel who played a thoughtful role in the selection of the new Fire Chief Rebecca Tyo.

Mr. Yusef quoted scripture and spoke about famous people who once lived in public housing.

Mr. Brantley spoke about President Donald Trump, and he also talked about The People Who Care lawsuit.

Mr. Vurnovas spoke about how divided the country is right now. He asked that all
individuals work together to make the divide better, and he suggested that hosting more community forums, and workshops may help.
II. COMMITTEE REPORTS
1. Committee recommends approval of the Annexation Agreement for 2215 Wentworth Avenue. The Legal Director shall prepare the appropriate ordinance.
The owner of the subject property has requested annexation to the City of Rockford. The owner has signed an Annexation Agreement.
