Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met Oct. 7.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Dan Baumgartner, Sally Bennett, Connie Kieffer, Dave Winters and Justin York
Staff present: Dan Barber, Chief Hollinger and Happy Welch
Motion by Mr. York, second by Mr. Baumgartner, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of September 16, 2025. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS
None.
RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT
Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $352,861.77.
MAYOR PETERSON
Mayor Peterson advised the Committee that the Village received the Sosnowski grant money today ($100,000).
Mayor Peterson added that the Village received another payment from the Napoli class action lawsuit against Dupont and 3M in the amount of $319,497.18. Mayor Peterson said that Village had already received a payment in the amount of $92,185.85 and that with interest earned ($1,109.56) the payments total $412,792.59. Mayor Peterson stated that this money will go towards Well #5 rehabilitation.
VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR – HAPPY WELCH
None.
VILLAGE TREASURER, SALLY BENNETT
Treasurer Bennett advised the Committee that the Village Clerk received a letter from IDOT requesting records from the Village in reference to MFT funds. Treasurer Bennett stated that IDOT is looking for records dating back to January 2012 through December 2024, but that the Village only keeps records for the last seven years. Mr. Barber stated that Treasurer Bennett may want to also check with C.E.S. to see if they have any records as well.
DAVE WINTERS, CHAIRMAN
Mr. Winters stated that the Village isn’t renewing their membership with the National League of Cities (NLC) this year.
