Belvidere ranked 280th in state in lottery ticket sales

The city of Belvidere had the 280th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of February 2016 -- down 1 spot from its January ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Belvidere was $24.01 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Rockford Sun, Belvidere generated $603,503 in net sales from its 22 lottery retailers in February 2016, compared to $633,897.50 in February 2015.


The city of Belvidere is in Boone County, and has a population of 25,132, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Cherry Valley.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in February 2016 was $27,714.42.

Belvidere's top lottery retailer is Quick Stop located at 1901 N State St, Belvidere, IL 61008.

Quick Stop generated 12 percent of Belvidere's February 2016 lottery ticket sales and 5 percent of Boone County's sales that month, which was $1,718,294.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top four cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Boone County in 2015 were Loves Park, Belvidere, Poplar Grove and Capron.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
