Unpaid fines for Rockford-based campaign committees totaled $21,900 in January 2017

Campaign committees in Rockford collectively owe a total of $21,900 in overdue fees, records obtained by the Rockford Sun show.

A detailed review of individual fines revealed that four committees in Rockford were delinquent in payment for January 2017.

The Rockford-based committee with the largest total in unpaid fines was Citizens for Tyler Smith, which owes a total of $13,450.

The committee has been fined for failure to comply and a late quarterly report.
