Report: Winnebago spent $10,510 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Winnebago Community Unit School District 323 is up 8 percent from five years ago, according to a Rockford Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Winnebago County school district spent $9,737 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,510 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1540 to 1386.

Winnebago's spending in 2016-17 was 19 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
