Loves Park Fire Department responded to 139 calls in 2017 - 20.9 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Loves Park included 49 fires - 25 structure fires, 14 vehicle fires and 10 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,252,700 in fire loss - or about $25,565 per fire.

The department also received 87 false calls, including four malicious calls and 83 other false calls.
