South Beloit Fire Department responded to 120 calls in 2017 - 5.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in South Beloit included 70 fires - 38 structure fires, three vehicle fires and 29 other fires. The fire department also responded to five calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $208,000 in fire loss - or about $2,971 per fire.

The department also received 45 false calls, including one malicious call and 44 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury.
