Facing triple charges regarding allegations of multiple child sexual-abuse allegations, the 27-year-old son of Illinois Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) has been confined to the Winnebago County jail, WREX reported on Aug. 2.

Jordan David Syverson was incarcerated Aug. 1 on one charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a child under the age of 13 and two additional separate charges regarding the exploitation of a child. The latter two incidents are reported to have occurred between Oct. 28 and Oct. 31, 2016.

Jordan is currently being held on a $20,000 bond and was due to be arraigned Aug. 2, the station said.

The senior Syverson, who represents the 35th District including Boone, DeKalb, Kane, Winnebago and Washington counties, issued a statement describing his son’s history of difficulties and asking for privacy.

"Jordan is our adopted [son] who has dealt with mental health issues since early childhood. ... Other families that have gone through these issues understand the frustration of seeing someone you love struggle with this kind of illness,” he said. “I respect the legal process with dealing with the issue. We love our son.”

The senator also conveyed that prospects for helping his troubled son are restricted, stating that the family has limited ways of assisting him since Jordan is of adult age.

A second man, James C. Lamont III, was implicated along with the senator’s son on identical charges, according to WREX.
