Mercy Rockford Health System issued the following announcement on Aug. 15.
The House of Mercy Homeless Center, 320 Lincoln St., Janesville, will host a volunteer open house on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm. The next open house is Tuesday, August 21. Guests will enjoy a facility tour, orientation and learn more about what it takes to be a House of Mercy volunteer.
The House of Mercy Homeless Center is a 25-bed facility that provides homeless families with short-term, emergency shelter and access to community resources. Since 1996, we have served over 6,300 individuals, half of whom are children. We are always filled to capacity with a waiting list.
Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information about volunteering, call the House of Mercy Homeless Center manager at (608) 754-0045.
