Pecatonica Community Unit School District 321 students suspended 40 times in a single school year

Pecatonica Community Unit School District 321 reported 40 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 40 students during the year. That equates to 4.5 percent of the 893 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 18 incidents. There were four incidents of violence without physical injury. For 21 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 11 incidents. There were two incidents of a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm. For eight incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
