Retired Prairie Hill CCSD 133 employee Crystal Swanson saved $18,363 toward her pension over 11 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.

Over 33 years of retirement, Swanson would collect as much as $364,000 according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Rockford Sun.

Swanson, 62, who currently lives in Caledonia, earned $30,935 in her final year at Prairie Hill CCSD 133.

The projection assumes Swanson will receive 19.9 percent of that total - $6,156 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After three years of retirement, Swanson will have already received $19,028 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.

According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 64.1 percent of Prairie Hill CCSD 133 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams.
