Winnebago County Human Resources issued the following announcement on Nov. 1.
Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announces that on October 31st, 2018, Romeo D. Trammell (D.O.B. 5/16/1988) was found guilty of Armed Habitual Criminal after a bench trial in front of the Honorable Judge Ronald White.
On June 2nd, 2018 Rockford Police came in contact with the defendant, Romeo Trammell at a home in the 3000 Block of Cannon Street. When officers approached Trammell, he fled. Police searched the defendant’s vehicle and located a black semi-automatic hand gun. The gun had previously been reported stolen. Trammell has prior felony convictions from 2008 and 2012 and is not allowed to legally possess firearms.
Armed Habitual Criminal is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release. The sentence will be served at 85%.
Trammell is scheduled to be back in court again on November 7th, 2018, in front of the Honorable Judge White in Courtroom 316.
