City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Nov. 28.
Six weeks ago, Mayor Tom McNamara toured RPS 205's Roosevelt Community Education Center, to learn more about the school and how it serves its 500+ students with a flexible scheduling model, limited class sizes and individualized learning structure.
He also learned about the school’s work on the Precious Plastics project, which aims to reduce the impact of plastic on the environment and provide reusable plastic to various industries. The school needed $5,000 to purchase specialized equipment for the school to launch the project.
Today, the mayor returned with Michele Petrie, Market President of Wintrust, to present $5,000 to Roosevelt Principal Morgan Gallagher for the equipment. Donors to the project included Butitta Brothers, Wintrust, CAI Custom Alloys, Fifth Ward Ald. Venita Hervey, WaterSurplus, Sam Castree and Thayer Lighting.
Thanks to all these businesses and individuals for supporting Roosevelt!
