Mercy Rockford Health System issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.
On Monday, December 10, four Rockford IceHogs players visited Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital-Rockton. The IceHogs collected more than 3,000 stuffed animals during the recent Teddy Bear Toss. It was held Sunday, December 1, during halftime at the Rockford vs. Milwaukee game.
The players distributed the stuffed animals to local children, including some at Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital-Rockton. The four IceHogs players visited Mercyhealth’s 20-bed inpatient Pediatric Unit and surprised several children, including Ella and Bentley, who came for appointments at our Pediatric Therapy Department.
“We want to thank the Rockford IceHogs and the Rockford community for supporting our pediatric patients,” said Barb Bortner, Mercyhealth Vice President. “When kids are sick and need to be hospitalized, they need special care from our compassionate experts. These stuffed animals will help us provide a little extra love and comfort during their visit with us.”
