City of Rockton Public Works Committee met November 5

City of Rockton Public Works Committee met Nov. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Fridly called the regular meeting of the Public Works Committee to order at 5:35 pm. Members present: Mayor Adams, Dan Barber, Kevin Bunge, Scott Fridly, Cory Magnus, Jodi May and Don Self

Also present: Chief Dickson and Arianne Honkamp

Motion by Mr. Magnus, second by Mrs. May to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of October 15, 2018. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Chief Dickson spoke to the Committee in reference to the server and explained the options that were recommended to the Village by the new IT provider.

VILLAGE ENGINEER – KEVIN BUNGE

Village Engineer Kevin Bunge gave his report. A copy of his report is on file with the Village Clerk’s office.

Mr. Bunge stated that all of the easements for the ITEP Rockton Road bike path should be good to go by the end of the week. Mr. Fridly explained that the Meyers would like to add an additional tree to the agreement and stated that they would reimburse the Village for the cost of the tree. The Committee was okay with this.

MAYOR - DALE ADAMS

Mayor Adams advised the Committee that he spoke with the residents at 1532 Wind Trace Court and that they would like to take over part of the detention area located behind their home. Mayor Adams said that he will have Atty. Szeto draw up an agreement to do this. Mr. Bunge stated that it needs to be made clear that nothing can interfere with the water flow in the detention area.

WATER, SEWER, & GARBAGE – SCOTT FRIDLY

None.

STREETS AND WALKS – CORY MAGNUS

Mr. Magnus stated that Ordinance 2018-28: An Ordinance of the Village of Rockton, Illinois Designating a No Truck Area on Portions of Nazarene Drive within the Village of Rockton, Illinois is up for approval at the Village Board meeting later in the evening. The Committee was okay with this.

Mr. Magnus added that a purchase requisition for William Charles for Highway 2 traffic light battery replacement at a cost of $2,115 is also up for approval at the Village Board meeting. The Committee was okay with this as well.

BUILDINGS AND PARKS – JODI MAY

Mrs. May discussed the Christmas lights on Main Street with the Committee. Mr. Barber stated that the lights will be replaced in one or two weeks and that two more businesses were requesting lights (122 E. Main Street and 301 E. Main Street). Mr. Barber explained that the Village maintains and takes care of the lights for the downtown businesses. Mr. Fridly advised Mr. Barber to go ahead and do it and to get a price for LED lights to be used next year.

Mrs. May stated that the purchase requisition for Anderson Roofing to repair the roofs at well houses #5 and #6 is up for approval at the Village Board meeting. Mr. Fridly said that the roofs have been bad and that this is not an emergency. Mr. Fridly advised the Committee that this is something that should go out to bid. Mr. Barber said that he would comply, but that it was imperative that the Village Trustees not discuss the quotes that were included in their agenda packets. Mrs. May stated that she will remove this item from the Village Board agenda.

Mrs. May requested that the approval to purchase Christmas wreaths for Village Hall from Boy Scout Troop #619 in the amount of $162 be added to the next agenda.

PUBLIC WORKS – DAN BARBER

Mr. Barber stated that he is switching chemical companies and that it should save the Village $4,000 - $5,000/year.

Mr. Barber added that there is a fire hydrant located at Warren and Kocher Streets that need to be replaced in the amount of $3,146. Mr. Fridly stated that he will get a consensus at the Village Board meeting later in the evening.

PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR – DON SELF

None.

None.
