Mercy Rockford Health System issued the following announcement on Feb. 6.
Mercyhealth is pleased to welcome Fateema Turay Rose, MD, board certified pediatric gastroenterologist to the pediatrics specialties staff of Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside and Rockton. Dr. Rose’s addition to Mercyhealth’s Pediatric Gastroenterology Department brings the total number of board certified physicians to five, providing the only pediatric gastroenterology care in northwest Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
“Our highly experienced physicians are dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of a wide variety of digestive disorders including liver disease in infants, children, and teens,” said Dr. David Deutsch, Chair of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Department. “Our team provides a vast spectrum of care using the latest technology, including the Bravo® pH Monitoring System procedure for reflux and video capsule endoscopy (pill cam) and pH/impedance testing.”
In addition to serving pediatric patients at the new State of Illinois-designated Children’s Hospital at Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside, the pediatric gastroenterologists also provide compassionate medical care at Javon Bea Hospital–Rockton, Mercyhealth East in Janesville, WI, and Mercyhealth Woodstock in Woodstock, IL. In addition, Mercyhealth’s pediatric gastroenterologists see patients at KSB Town Square Center Clinic in Dixon, IL, and St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley, IL.

“I listen to what my patients and their families because I believe they are a great source of information. I expect my patients and families to take an active role in their care and I want my patients to know that I will work together with them to provide the best care possible,” said Dr. Rose. “I enjoy working closely with families to develop a care plan that is best for each individual patient. I dedicate the time needed to help each patient, both during and after their visit.”
Dr. Rose earned her medical degree at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Hershey. She completed her residency through the Pediatric Residency Program at the University of South Florida, Tampa. Dr. Rose is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics with added certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology. She also completed a Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center/Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh.
