SWEDISHAMERICAN HOSPITAL: SwedishAmerican Neurosurgeon Receives "Top Doctor" Award

SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on Feb. 20.

SwedishAmerican Neurosurgeon Gayatri Sonti, DO, PhD has been named a 2018 Top Doctor in Rockford. Top Doctor Awards are dedicated to selecting and honoring those healthcare practitioners who have demonstrated clinical excellence while delivering the highest standards of patient care.

Dr. Sonti has been in practice for more than 15 years, and in that time has become renowned as one of the top neurosurgeons in Illinois. Her acclaimed medical career began in 2003 when she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. An internship followed at the Providence Medical Center, before a residency and then fellowship were completed at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California. Dr. Sonti also holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the University of Delaware.

Dr. Sonti is known across Illinois and beyond for her expertise as a neurological surgeon. She treats patients of all ages, providing surgical solutions for conditions including brain aneurysm, cerebral hemorrhage, brain cancer, epilepsy, cranial trauma, meningitis, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease and spina bifida.

Dr. Sonti is an active member of the American Osteopathic Association, and she is particularly noted for her expertise in the use of the latest minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques. Her dedication and commitment makes Dr. Gayatri Sonti a very worthy winner of a 2018 Top Doctor Award.
