Rockford home prices rise in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in Rockford rose by $3,000 while total sales increased by 12.1%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 2,834 homes sold, with a median sale price of $70,000 - a 4.5% increase over the $67,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 2,528 homes sold in Rockford in 2016.

The median sales tax in Rockford for 2017 was $2,330. In 2016, the median sales tax was $2,291. This marks an increase of 1.7%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 3.3%.
