City of Rockford issued the following announcement on April 20.
The girls soccer teams at Guilford High School and East High School partnered to make a surprise donation yesterday to the Family Justice Center after each won $250 through a charity contest as part of the PepsiCo Showdown, the largest high school sports series in the U.S. The massive event, which features nearly 250 high school programs from the Chicago and northern Illinois region, is built around the “Making A Difference On AND Off the Field” campaign. Its main focus is to engage and educate student athletes about the power they have to help enhance the lives of others. Thank you for your donation! #OurKidsRock #RPS205
