City of Rockford issued the following announcement on April 19.
For the second year in a row, we're asking the community to wear denim and show support for survivors of sexual assault on Wednesday, April 24! Download a Denim Day sign at www.unitedwayrrv.org/denimday and take an individual or group picture to share on social media using #DenimDay #UWDenimDay and #815DenimDay.
The Denim Day campaign was originally triggered by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent.
