Mercy Rockford Health System issued the following announcement on June 21.
The Mercyhealth School of Sonography is now accepting applications for fall 2019. It is an advanced-level, 15-month certificate program in a hospital setting that specializes in abdominal, obstetrical and gynecological sonography. The curriculum includes classroom instruction, laboratory training, and hands-on scanning experience. This program is considered full time, Monday through Friday.
Clinical education takes place at Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital–Rockton, Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside, Women’s Center, Vascular Lab, and at various Mercyhealth clinics. Students will work in the hospital and clinic with physicians, radiology professionals, and other members of the health care team.
Graduation requirements for this program include satisfactory completion of required clinical competencies, a grade percentage above 80 percent in all subject areas, and tuition payment in full. Upon successful completion of this program, students are awarded a certificate, which makes them eligible to take the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification examinations in ultrasound physics Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI), abdomen, and obstetrics and gynecology. Passing the ARDMS certification exams result in receiving the Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential.
Important program information and requirements
Applications are now being accepted for the class beginning October 2019 and concluding December 2020.
Application deadline: July 15, 2019. Interviews will be conducted in August 2019.
All prerequisite courses, awarding of a degree, as well as health care observational experience of at least four hours, must be completed before submitting your application.
