Q4 2018 Recap: Parolees in Winnebago County convicted of crimes involving weapons

There were 17 offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons released on parole in Winnebago County during the fourth quarter of 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rockford Sun.

The data shows that 16 men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons was 30. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man sentenced in 2015, and the oldest was a 57-year-old man sentenced in 2016.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Shawn D. Hart. He was convicted in 2015 when he was 35 years old. He is now 39.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
