WINNEBAGO SHERIFF DEPARTMENT: Information: Narcotics Investigation

Winnebago Sheriff Department issued the following announcement on July 19.

On Thursday, July 18, 2019, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Green Street in Rockford, Illinois. During the execution of the search warrant, Deputies located marijuana, over $20,000 cash, a rifle, 3 handguns, and 2 AK-47 rifles, one of which was equipped with a 100 round drum magazine. One of the handguns had an obliterated serial number. The Winnebago County States Attorney’s Office reviewed the facts of the case and authorized the following charges against the residents, Emilio Brito Jr. and a 17 year old juvenile male:

~Emilio Brito Jr. (12/26/99) of Rockford.

-Possession with intent to deliver marijuana 30-500 grams.

-Possession of firearm without requisite firearm owner’s identification card.

-Possession of ammunition without requisite firearm owner’s identification card.

~17 year old juvenile male

-Possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number

The charges against Emilio Brito Jr. and the 17 year old juvenile male are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
