Mayor Adams advised that municipalities in Cook County are allowed to levy up to a three cent municipal gas tax when the gas tax increases on July 1st. Mayor Adams stated that since it was approved at the veto session for Cook County that it should be approved for any municipalities in Illinois. Mayor Adams said that he is trying to figure out how much that would generate in the Village, but the gas stations won’t release information as to how much gas is sold at their businesses. Mayor Adams stated that this is something that the Village may want to consider instead of increasing property taxes or a one cent sales tax increase.
