City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Sept. 9.
The City of Rockford has scheduled a public hearing on the casino proposals for Monday, September 23, at 5:30 p.m. at the Coronado Performing Arts Center.
The Illinois Gaming Act requires that the City conduct a public hearing on the factors to be certified by the City and other details of the proposed casino. Those items to be certified by the City include:
that the Applicant has negotiated with the City in good faith
that the Applicant and the City have mutually agreed on the permanent location of the casino
that the Applicant and the City have mutually agreed on the temporary location of the casino
that the Applicant and the City have mutually agreed on the percentage of revenues that will be shared with the City
that the Applicant and the City have mutually agreed on any zoning, licensing, public health, or other issues that are within the jurisdiction of the municipality or county
that the City Council has passed a resolution or ordinance in support of the casino
The hearing will be open to the public with doors opening at 5 p.m. Each applicant will have 45 minutes to make a formal presentation of its casino proposal. After the presentations, audience members are welcome to ask questions of the applicants, the City and its consultants.
